Six cases of the new Covid-19 Omicron variant have been identified in Scotland.The Scottish Government confirmed in a statement on Monday that four people have the variant in the Lanarkshire area, while another two have been identified in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde health board.First Minister Nicola Sturgeon tweeted this morning to say she will give an update at 10.30am today on the current situation in Scotland, what we know about Omicron and what can be done to contain its spread.Health Secretary Humza Yousaf said: “This will be a worrying time for the six people now identified as having the new variant.“All will receive expert help and support and Public Health Scotland will undertake enhanced contact tracing in all cases.
