Non-essential retail shops, hair and beauty providers, gyms and leisure centres are among the businesses that have reopened to the public across the country following the easing of Covid-19 restrictions.
Cinemas, museums and galleries will also be able to reopen, but pubs serving food and restaurants will remain closed until Friday.
On Mary Street in Dublin, dozens of people queued from 4.30am to get into Penneys when it reopened just before 7am. There was also a large queue outside Arnotts Department Store on Henry St before it reopened at 10am.
However, elsewhere there was little sign of queuing outside other outlets ahead of reopening. The number of shoppers in Dublin city centre began building from early and by mid-morning, when all the
