PHILADELPHIA - Four men were struck by gunfire as shots rang out less than a block from a hospital in Northeast Philadelphia early Saturday morning.Police say the quadruple shooting erupted out he 5000 block of Frankford Avenue, which is just feet away from Jefferson Frankford Hospital.Four men were reportedly brought to the hospital by private vehicle after being shot.A 20-year-old man is in critical condition after suffering a gunshot in the face.

He was transferred to Jefferson University Hospital.MORE HEADLINES:Three other victims are in stable condition: a 50-year-old man shot in the chest; a 38-year-old man shot in the ankle; and a 36-year-old man shot in the hand.No arrests have been made, and no weapon recovered.

COLOMBO (News 1st) – Sri Lanka Police fired tear gas in Mullaithivu on Wednesday (5) to prevent a brawl from taking place  between two groups of fishermen.Fishermen from Mullaithivu have been protesting opposite the Mullaithivu Fisheries Office for three days citing several demands including a ban on illegal fishing methods and the transfer of corrupt officials.While this protest was taking place, another group marched in protest from the Mullaithivu Bus Terminal demanding that a certain type fishing net locally known as the 'Surukku Dela' be permitted to be used for fishing, though it has been banned in Sri Lanka.The group then attempted to march towards the Mullaithivu Fisheries Office.Despite Sri Lanka Police attempting to prevent them marching ahead, the group broke through and Sri Lanla Police were forced to fire tear gas to disperse the crowd.After tear gas was fired, the fishermen who demanded permission to use the banned fishing net protested opposite the Mullaithivu District Secretariat.They handed over a letter to the Mullaithivu District Secretary, and thereafter with Police and Military protection handed over a letter to the Mullaithivu Fisheries Department as well.The group thereafter moved away, however, the fishermen who want to ban the use of the said nets continued with their protest.

A fourth person was reportedly driving the car.The same vehicle is being sought in connection to a shooting that left an 8-year-old girl with a graze wound four days earlier.Another 46 shots were fired in this shooting that struck a 23-year-old in the leg.

PHILADELPHIA - Authorities are investigating a shooting that left a woman hospitalized early Wednesday morning. According to police, the shooting occurred just before 12:30 a.m.Responding officers from the 19th District were called to the 5300 block of Girard Avenue and found a woman lying on the sidewalk on the 600 block of North Peach Street, police say. The woman was bleeding heavily from a gunshot wound to the thigh, Chief Inspector Scott Small said. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESOfficials say police took her to a Presbyterian Hospital, where she is in critical condition and undergoing surgery. Small says the woman is considered a Jane Doe and believed to be in her early 30s. According to investigators, 10 spent shell casings were found on the sidewalk and front of a residence on Girard Avenue. Police say investigators believe someone fired the 10 shots southbound from Girard Avenue onto Peach Street. This is a developing story.
