PHILADELPHIA - A 17-year-old has died after he was shot outside of a store in Southwest Philadelphia, police say. According to authorities, the shooting happened on the corner of Buist Avenue and S 61st Street. Police say officers and fire medics arrived on scene and found the teenager suffering from gunshot wounds to the head. Medics rushed him to Penn Presbyterian Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:06 a.m., according to authorities. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESInvestigators were able to view the incident on surveillance cameras, police say. From surveillance, authorities say they learned that a suspect shot one of the tires of a pickup truck parked near the store. Then, a second suspect picked up the same gun from the ground and walked east toward the teen who was leaving the store with food, authorities say. According to police, the suspect got within a foot or two of the teenager and fired four shots at his head in what police are calling an "execution-style" shooting. Inspector D.F.

PHILADELPHIA - An off-duty police officer was carjacked at gunpoint early Friday morning and the car was found on fire. Chief Inspector Scott Small says the carjacking happened around 12:15 a.m., officers with the 12th District responded to numerous calls for a carjacking, shots fired and an auto accident at the intersection of 56th and Pentridge Streets in Kingsessing. When police arrived on scene, they found an off-duty officer who said he was parking his Silver 2020 Toyota Highlander when a suspect with a gun stopped him, reached into his pockets to grab his keys and then stole his vehicle, authorities say. Small says the off-duty officer fired his gun, but it remains unclear if the carjacking suspect was shot. According to police, the suspect then crashed the off-duty officer's car into unattended parked cars and then continued going north on 56th Street. Hours later, a car was found burning in West Philadelphia and it was identified as the officer's car.

PHILADELPHIA - More than 30 shots were fired in a shooting that killed one man and injured another in Fairhill, according to police. Police Inspector D.F. Pace says police received multiple 911 calls for reports of a shooting in the area of 8th Street and Allegheny Avenue around 11:30 p.m.

PHILADELPHIA - Video captured outside a Philadelphia home shows three women casually walking down the sidewalk when an unknown man attacks them without warning. The brutal and seemingly unprovoked attack happened on the 1200 block of Morris Street around 11 p.m. Wednesday night.A neighbor's Ring doorbell camera captured the man walk beside a group of three women, then punch one of them in the face. When another woman intervenes, the man also slugs her in the face.

PHILADELPHIA - Police are searching for a New Jersey man wanted in connection to an attack of a transgender woman and non-fatal double shooting last weekend in Philadelphia.Joel Martinez, a 21-year-old Camden resident, is facing several charges, including attempted murder and aggravated assault, stemming from a Sunday morning double shooting in Kensington. Investigators say the violence unfolded after the victims and the attacker left a speakeasy near Rosehill and East Westmoreland streets.

PHILADELPHIA - A Montana man was found with a loaded handgun and an additional magazine in his carry-on bag Thursday at Philadelphia International Airport, officials said. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers spotted the 9mm handgun during an x-ray scan of the passenger's carry-on items, according to a press release. Officials said the gun was loaded with 13 bullets, including one in the chamber. A search also uncovered a loaded magazine inside the man's carry-on bag. Philadelphia police confiscated the gun and briefly detained the man for questioning, according to officials.

PHILADELPHIA - Police are searching for a suspect who tried to rob a store in Northeast Philadelphia last month. According to the Philadelphia Police Department, the incident happened on May 25 around 3:23 p.m.

PHILADELPHIA - A Philadelphia man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for blowing up an ATM during the civil unrest in spring 2020. According to United States Attorney Jennifer Arbittier Williams, 26-year-old David Elmakayes was given the sentence and three years of supervised release for "using an explosive device to damage an ATM machine and for illegally possessing a firearm." Elmakayes was charged with malicious damage of property with an explosive device, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and related charges on June 18, 2020. Officials say on the night of June 3, 2020, he used an explosive device to damage an ATM on the 200 block of East Westmoreland Street in North Philadelphia. FOX 29's Dave Schratwieser reports.According to authorities, at the time of his arrest, Elmakayes also had three more explosive devices in his possession along with a .32 caliber pistol. MORE LOCAL HEADLINES"This defendant took advantage of a volatile situation on the streets of Philadelphia to commit a dangerous act that could have injured many people," Williams said. "Damaging property with an explosive device and illegally carrying a firearm are federal crimes which our Office will aggressively prosecute.

When investigators served a search warrant to American Airlines requesting "any and all" travel information for passengers on that particular flight, the airline reportedly sent information for only one man: Michael Lowe, a professional outdoorsman and career guide from Flagstaff, Arizona.Lowe was not the culprit, but the information the airline sent to police was enough for them to issue an arrest warrant on charges of felony burglary and misdemeanor criminal mischief, court documents state.More than a year later, Lowe was picked up on those warrants while attending a July 4th celebration with friends in Tucumcari, New Mexico.

YORK, Pa. - An appeals court has halted the release of a man awaiting a new trial on charges of having killed his wife and then faking an all-terrain vehicle accident to cover up the slaying a decade ago.Local media report that a York County judge last week had cleared the way for the release of 49-year-old Joe Fitzpatrick III of Chanceford Township. He's accused of having drowned 43-year-old Annemarie Fitzpatrick in a creek in June 2012 and then telling police they crashed their ATV in the water.The judge cited a state constitutional provision saying bail should be allowed except in first-degree murder or mandatory life term cases, and said details of the trial and Fitzpatrick's lack of a significant criminal record made bail a viable option.

PHILADELPHIA - Police are investigating after two young adults were shot and killed in Kingsessing on Thursday. According to police, just before 1:30 a.m., officers with the 12th District responded to multiple 911 calls for a shooting on the 5400 block of Ridgewood Street. Officers arrived on scene and found two teens, ages 18 and 19, with multiple gunshot wounds to the body. Investigators say the 19-year-old was shot on the porch of the home and then ran inside. According to authorities, the 19-year-old was transported to Penn Presbyterian Hospital and he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESThe 18-year-old was found about 200 feet away in an alley across the street, according to Philadelphia Inspector D.F.

PHILADELPHIA - A Philadelphia man has been arrested after officials say he made a business out of selling homemade THC edibles to children as young as 11 years old.Quashon Rice, 20, is accused of manufacturing and selling THC-laced "treats," then delivering them to schools, park and children's homes all over Montgomery County.Officials say an investigation was launched in May when a student at East Norriton Middle School became sick after unknowingly eating a drug-laced rainbow-colored Rice Krispy treat.The treat was reportedly given to him by another student, who was selling edibles purchased from Instagram. The student paid cash for the edibles, which were delivered directly to them at a park in their neighborhood.According to an investigation, Rice communicated with multiple juveniles through two Instagram accounts; "top2treats" and "toptreatz4." He allegedly quoted specific prices, delivery fees and available THC products; including Fruity Pebbles bars, cookies, brownies and Cinnamon Toast Crunch bars.Evidence proved Rice knew he was selling drugs to children as young as 11 years old, officials say. Detectives also found Rice was soliciting juveniles to help him sell the drug-laced edible for a discount.

NEW CASTLE, Del. - Authorities in Delaware say scammers stole thousands of dollars from elderly people by posing as family members in dire need of money. The New Castle Division of Police responded Monday to the homes of at least four different victims between the ages of 83 and 90-years-old. Each victim told police a similar story about being contacted by a person who claimed to be a family member in serious legal trouble and in need of bail money.At least three victims handed over between $9K and $15K to people who came to the victim's homes to collect the money. In one instance, police said an 83-year-old asked to see a suspect's ID when he came to pick up the money.

NORTH PHILADELPHIA - An elderly woman was killed after she was hit by a vehicle in North Philadelphia.Officials said a woman, thought to be about 80, was crossing the street at the 1900 block of West Oxford Street Wednesday evening, before 7 p.m.While crossing the street, officials said, she was struck by a black truck.Medics rushed the woman to Temple University Hospital, where she died.The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.

LOS ANGELES COUNTY, Calif. - Two police officers are dead after being shot during an ambush while in the line of duty in El Monte.The El Monte Police Department responded to a call of a possible stabbing at a motel near Garvey and Central avenues Monday evening. Upon arrival, a gunman opened fire at the responding officers, El Monte city officials said in a press release.Two of the officers - Corporal Michael Paredes and Officer Joseph Santana - were hit in the shooting and were taken to LAC-USC Medical Center.

NEWARK, Del. - Part of I-95 was shut down for several hours Tuesday after a car spun out, crossed the interstate and hit a dump truck.Police say a BMW was traveling northbound near Newark when the driver lost control, spun out, hit a crash cushion and crossed over onto the southbound side. An oncoming truck then collided with the spinning car. Both vehicles came to a stop against the center concrete barrier.The driver of the BMW, a 29-year-old Delaware man, was pronounced dead on the scene.

PHILADELPHIA - A DoorDash delivery driver has been charged for shooting a teenage employee at a Chick-fil-A in Crescentville. A spokesperson from the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office said Tyquan Austin, 26, has been charged with aggravated assault, possession of an instrument of crime, simple assault and reckless endangerment. Police say the shooting stemmed from an argument over a milkshake at the fast food restaurant located at 811 Adams Avenue in Crescentville on Monday night. Austin, a food delivery driver for DoorDash, said the order he was picking up was missing a second milkshake. When the server asked to see a receipt to verify the order, Austin pulled out a gun and put it in his lap, according to police. The server recruited his tam leader who asked for the order back and then a manager came out before Austin drove away, authorities say. RELATED HEADLINESPolice say Austin then circled back and fired a single shot at the entrance striking the 17-year-old employee. According to authorities, other people were in the range of gunfire. "The shooting was unprovoked and endangered multiple people beyond the shooting victim, who was wounded in the leg and is expected to recover," the DA's Office said. The DA's Office also says the incident was captured on video and images of Austin helped police identify and locate him. Officers found Austin's car abandoned in an alley with no one inside before a man approached saying he was not the driver, but his belongings were inside, per officials. According to police, he was then taken into custody after police recognized a tattoo on his neck. The victim, who has been released from the hospital, identified Austin as the man who shot him, according to authorities. Police say

HARRISON TOWNSHIP, N.J. - Authorities are investigating a commercial accident involving an explosion at a business in Harrison Township. According to Harrison Township Police, the department and fire units received a 911 call around 10:40 a.m. Wednesday morning for reports of an accident and explosion. The incident took place at a business in the area of Swedesboro and Tomlin Station Roads, police say. SKYFOX flew over the scene and could see ambulances and a fire truck on scene. Authorities have not said if any injuries were reported.Police say the investigation is active and ongoing with the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office and Fire Marshall. The scene has been contained and the public is not in danger, according to authorities.

A mental health campaigner who assaulted a man in the street after getting drunk at a Christening event was spared jail today.

ELIZABETH, N.J. - A New Jersey man who killed his ex-girlfriend and drove their toddler son to Tennessee with her body in the trunk last July has been sentenced to 30 years in prison. Tyler Rios pleaded guilty in April to aggravated manslaughter and desecrating human remains in the death of 24-year-old Yasemin Uyar. The Union County Prosecutor's Office in New Jersey says Rios killed Uyar in her Rahway home, then fled with their 2-year-old son. The boy eventually was found unharmed at a hotel in Monterey, Tennessee. Uyar's body was found nearby in a wooded area off Interstate 40.

Police are investigating after a man was fatally shot in North Philadelphia.  PHILADELPHIA - Investigators with the Philadelphia Police Department are looking into the fatal shooting of a man on Tuesday night. Police say gunshots were reported on the 100 block of W Indiana Avenue. Officers found a 47-year-old man on the ground with gunshot wounds to the back and arm, according to authorities. Officials say police rushed him to Temple Hospital, but he was pronounced dead at 11:20 p.m. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESTwo spent shell casings were discovered at the crime scene, police say. According to authorities, investigators believe he may have been targeted. The investigation is active and ongoing.

PHILADELPHIA - The mother of a teenage Chick-fil-a employee who police say was shot by a disgruntled delivery driver Monday night says her son is home from the hospital with a bullet still lodged inside his leg. The teen was found shot in the knee when police responded to the fast-food restaurant on Adams Avenue in Philadelphia's Crescentville neighborhood. The shooting reportedly stemmed from an argument between a delivery service driver and store employees over a pick-up order.According to police, a serve brought a DoorDash driver a pick-up order that the driver claimed was missing a second milkshake.

UPPER MERION, Pa. - Police are searching for a group of young men who they say tried to steal two purses in the parking lot of King of Prussia Mall and fled in a carjacked vehicle. The Upper Merion Police Department said at least two attempted thefts happened in the mall parking lot around 9 p.m. Monday. A woman reported that she was getting into her car when she was approached by a young man who tried to forcibly take her purse, according to police. The woman told officers that a red sedan with at least two others inside parked behind her during the attempted theft. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESWhile responding officers were talking to the victim, police were approached by another woman who said someone in a passing red sedan tried to steal her purse. The second victim told police the attempted theft happened in the parking lot near the Neiman Marcus store. Authorities used surveillance footage to discover that the vehicle, a red 2010 Toyota Corolla, was reported stolen earlier in the day during a carjacking in Philadelphia. The Upper Merion Police Department shared photos of the suspects and the vehicle.

The House passed a bill 396-27 to increase security for Supreme Court justices' immediate families on Tuesday, approving a measure that had already been passed by unanimous consent in the Senate.The bill comes after one man was arrested for allegedly plotting to kill Justice Brett Kavanaugh and protesters demonstrated outside the homes of conservative justices following the leak of a draft opinion in a high-profile abortion case.The bill provides for 24-hour protection for Supreme Court justices' families, similar to what is already provided for some members of the executive and legislative branches.All 27 nay votes were Democrats.The Senate bill was introduced three days after Politico published the leaked draft opinion, which suggested that the Supreme Court intends to overturn Roe v. Wade.

PHILADELPHIA - Four California men were arrested in Pennsylvania with more than a million dollars in fentanyl pills and methamphetamine, according to authorities. The Bensalem Township Police Department, in cooperation Philadelphia DEA agents, made the drug bust Wednesday on the 3300 block of Street Road. Ramon Caro Ramon Caro, 19, Alex Zaragoza, 22, Anthony Gonzales, 26, and Arturo Avila, 37, were each charged with several crimes including possession with intent to deliver. Authorities say the men are from Riverside, California.
