Police: 4 injured in separate shootings during violent morning in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA - Homicide detectives with the Philadelphia Police department are investigating a double shooting that left a woman dead and a man hospitalized Monday morning, police say. According to authorities, the shooting occurred on the 5800 block of Angora Terrace in Southwest Philadelphia around 5:17 a.m. Officials say officers responded to a residence and found a woman, 48, unresponsive on the floor of a second-floor hallway with a gunshot wound to the back. Medics pronounced the woman dead on scene at 7:30 a.m., according to police. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESAnother man, who is listed as a John Doe, was found in a middle bedroom on the second floor with a gunshot wound to the head and left eye, authorities say. According to officials, he was transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he is listed in critical condition. Police say two firearms were recovered from the scene and no arrests have been made at this time This is a developing story.

PHILADELPHIA - Authorities say two young teenagers were shot while walking down a Philadelphia street Thursday night by a gunman who got out of a vehicle.Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to the intersection of 54th and Willows streets around 5 p.m. for reports of a gunfire. Police found a 16-year-old boy shot once in the side of the head and a 14-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound to the body, according to investigators. The older teen was brought to Penn Presbyterian Hospital and placed in critical condition, police said.

STRAWBERRY MANSION - A man and a woman are recovering after they were both shot in Strawberry Mansion.Officials said the shooting happened early Thursday afternoon, just before 1:30, on the 2600 block of North 30th Street.A 46-year-old man was shot in the leg. PHILADELPHIA - A man has died after he was run over in a hit-and-run in Holmesburg, police say. Authorities say the incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon at 2:37 p.m. According to officials, a 20-year-old driving a 2003 Honda Pilot was traveling eastbound on Chippendale Street when the driver stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of Frankford Avenue. Police say the driver made a left turn going north onto Frankford Avenue when they hit Joseph Lawson, 73, as he was crossing Frankford Avenue. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESThe driver continued operating the vehicle and ran over the man, authorities say. Lawson was transported to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to officials. The driver was last seen going north on Frankford Avenue, authorities say. Police say Lawson lived on the 3400 block of Chippendale Street. According to officials, the hit-and-run is under investigation by the Accident Investigation Division. 

PHILADELPHIA - A 14-year-old boy has been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting at the SEPTA station in Tioga, according to SEPTA Transit Police. SEPTA Transit Police say the shooting happened on Sunday night around 10:35 p.m.According to officials, after a short fight on a Market-Frankford Line train, the teen got off, pulled a gun out of his bag and fired two rounds at the train as it was leaving the station. Police say one of the rounds became lodged in the train window and was recovered. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESAccording to police, there were several passengers on board the train, but no one was hurt. After reviewing surveillance video and conducting an investigation, SEPTA Transit Police say they identified the suspect and arrested him after a warrant was approved. Officials say the obey is facing aggravated assault and related charges. SEPTA police are urging customers to contact them with safety concerns and say they should immediately call 911 in case of emergencies.

The victims in the shooting range in age from 14-17-years-old. Police on Wednesday identified Nicholas Elizalde, 14, as the only victim in the shooting who died from his gunshot wounds.

OAKLAND, Calif. - Six people were injured in a shooting on an Oakland school campus. Oakland police said the shooting happened on the King Estate campus, which is comprised a cluster of schools — Rudsdale Continuation School, Newcomer high schools, BayTech Charter School, and the headquarters of Sojourner Truth Independent Study.Authorities said two of the victims were found inside Rudsdale Continuation School.According to a spokesman for Highland Hospital, three of the shooting victims were brought to the trauma center. The other three victims were taken to other local hospitals.Authorities said two of the victims sustained life-threatening injuries, a third had non-life-threatening injuries.

CRESCENTVILLE - A 17-year-old girl was killed after she was struck by a vehicle while trying to run from a disturbance, in Philadelphia's Crescentville section.Officials said the victim was at the 4600 block of Roosevelt Boulevard, on the grounds of Excel Academy South, Wednesday afternoon, just before 2 p.m., when the accident took place.The girl was reportedly trying to run away from an assault when she was struck by the driver of a gray Chrysler.Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Small stated police received numerous 911 calls for a large fight and accident at the scene.Fire crews and medics responded to the calls and found the 17-year-old victim laying in the parking lot, unresponsive.Medics rushed her to Einstein Medical Center, but she succumbed to her injuries and died a short time later.The driver of the vehicle, an 18-year-old female, did remain at the scene and is talking with police.Inspector Small said police believe the 17-year-old and 18-year-old did attend the school.Detectives are investigating the accident.

PHILADELPHIA - An armed carjacker accused of ambushing a mother and her teenage daughter in the driveway of their Northeast Philadelphia home has been captured, according to a source. Investigators say the pair were leaving their home on the 8900 block of Maxwell Place around 6 a.m. Monday morning when the suspect ran up to them armed with a gun. "It appears he was laying in wait," Captain John Ryan told FOX 29's Dawn Timmeny. The disturbing video of the carjacking to posted Instagram shows the mother pleading with the suspect as he threatens her and her daughter with a gun.The suspect took the woman's purse and drove off in the family's Hyundai Santa Fe, according to police.
