The roll-out of the Covid-19 vaccination programme enters a new phase next week, when around 1,000 community pharmacists will begin administering vaccine doses.

Pharmacists will begin to receive vaccine deliveries from tomorrow. Pharmacists will be administering the Janssen single-dose vaccine to people aged 50 and over who have not been vaccinated yet.

The initial commitment is the distribution of 60,000 vaccines to participating pharmacists. The vaccines will be distributed in boxes of 50 for each of the roughly 1,000 pharmacies across the country who are partaking in the campaign.

People do not need to register online for the service but will need to book a vaccine appointment with a participating pharmacist.
