COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has decided to stop supplying fuel for cans and barrels from Tuesday (12).The Chairman of the CPC, Attorney-at-law, Sumith Wijesinghe said if there is a need for fuel for agricultural activities, they will make arrangements to provide it, if approval is given by the relevant Agricultural Research Officer, the Divisional Agrarian Officer, and the Grama Niladhari Officer.Further, he said if there is any need for fuel in barrels for other purposes, the public has to get approval from the Divisional Secretary.However, Kerosene can be purchased in cans, he said.Imported fuel stocks are being received as per the required plan for April, he noted.

COLOMBO (News 1st); Employees attached to the Katunayake International Airport have been instructed to work from home from Thursday (7).Vice-Chairman of Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Pvt) Ltd, Rajeev Sooriyaarachchi speaking to News 1st said the decision was made as AASL does not have sufficient stocks of fuel to provide transport for the employees.Therefore, employees who are involved in essential duties will be called into work, he added.Vice-Chairman of Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Pvt) Ltd, Rajeev Sooriyaarachchi said although orders were placed for Diesel for AASL, they are yet to receive these orders.He went on to note that the essential services by AASL including operating the airport radar systems will be carried out without any issue.At the same time, the Chairman of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation Sumith Wijesinghe told News 1st that Sri Lanka has sufficient stocks of jet fuel to deliver to aircraft.

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation says it will import 90,000 metric tons of fuel on credit from a supplier in Singapore next month.Ceylon Petroleum Corporation chairman Sumith Wijesinghe said 90,000 metric tons of crude oil are due to arrive on January 23rd or 24th.The consignment will be imported from a Singaporean supplier, and the CPC Chairman noted that a total 540,000 metric tons of crude oil will be imported during the next six months.These purchases would be made on credit through Letters of Credit opened by a State Bank, he said. The CPC also stated that the date of making the payment would be decided based on the conditions listed in the Letters of Credit.Meanwhile, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation has requested
