Ontario COVID numbers: 1,082 people in hospital, 160 in intensive care

COVID on Wednesday, with 160 in intensive care.This is up by 192 for hospitalizations and up by three for ICUs since the previous day.

Last Wednesday, there were 1,248 hospitalizations with 163 in ICU.According to latest data for hospitalizations, 59 per cent were admitted for other reasons but tested positive for COVID-19.

For those in ICUs, 35 per cent were admitted for other reasons. Higher air pollution linked to more severe cases of COVID-19, study suggests Meanwhile, Ontario also reported 775 new lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, though that is an underestimate of the true widespread transmission of the virus due to PCR testing eligibility.

The provincial case total now stands at 1,297,561.The death toll in the province has risen to 13,175 from the previous day as 11 new virus-related deaths were added.
