New figures from the Central Statistics Office show a big increase in the level of overseas travel in July compared to June, but the number still remains far below pre-Covid levels.
The CSO reported 380,700 overseas passenger arrivals and 428,600 overseas passenger departures in July of this year. This compares with 160,000 arrivals and 199,100 departures in June and marked monthly increases of 137.9% and 115.3% respectively.
However, the CSO said that for every overseas traveller in July of this year there were over five in pre-pandemic July 2019, when there were a total of 2,225,900 arrivals and 2,183,900 departures.
