A further 2,244 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in Scotland in the last 24 hours as it emerged six cases of the new Omicron variant have been identified in the country.Latest data shows there are 715 Covid patients in Scottish hospitals which is up six from yesterday.
There are currently 52 people with the disease being treated in ICUs, down three over the same period. Meanwhile, there are 61 Covid patients in Ayrshire hospitals while fewer than five people are being treated for the illness in the region's intensive care units.
No new deaths from the virus have been reported meaning Scotland's death toll remains at 9,562.However, 12,028 deaths have been registered in Scotland where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death
