On Wednesday, Kathleen Boleyn filed a complaint against Arvada Police Department Chief of Police Link Strate and former APD officer Kraig Brownlow over the June 2021 shooting death of her son, Johnny Hurley.The lawsuit was filed in the District Court of Colorado.According to court documents obtained by FOX Television Stations, Arvada Officer Gordon Beesley was ambushed, shot and killed by Ronald Troyke, who had "a virulent hatred for the police" after suffering from depression and personal setbacks.RELATED: Woman caught on camera stealing thousands of dollars worth of vinyl records in MarylandHurley was shopping at a nearby store when he heard the gunfire.

Hurley hurried out the store, drew a concealed carry pistol from his waistband, and ran toward the shooter," the lawsuit reads.Court documents stated Hurley found Troyke and shot him five times, killing him.
