G.L. Peiris, Fisheries Minister Douglas Devananda and the Justice Minister Ali Sabry on Saturday (29) addressed a gathering under the ‘Access to Justice’ mobile service program and even met a group of relatives of missing persons in Jaffna.Foreign Minister Prof.

Peiris, speaking at the event, stated that quick amendments are due to be made to the 13th amendment, in two stages.Accordingly, a committee has been appointed for the very purpose and a new bill will be introduced instead of the act in 1979, he mentioned.The purpose of this meeting was to compensate the relatives of missing persons and to provide them with lands.Meanwhile, a group of relatives of missing persons protested against this program, alleging that it is simply a ploy of the Government in time for the Geneva session, which is due to be held in March. “They should understand that the issue of missing persons is not a game, it is a large problem,” a woman stated.
