Manchester United's hopes of landing Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly in any cut-price deal in the next transfer window have been dashed by the Serie A club.
The Red Devils had been keeping tabs on Koulibaly's situation in Naples with an eye on capitalising on the financial fallout of the coronavirus outbreak and landing the Senegal international at a discount price.
Clubs across the continent are feeling the strain of a lack of match-day income and many could be forced to sell their stars to balance the books this summer.
For his part Koulibaly has previously held talks with Napoli over potentially leaving this summer if a bigger club comes calling.
