PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office has approved murder and related charges against Keith Gibson in connection with his mother’s death in East Falls.Christine Gibson, 54, was found fatally shot in her office last February.

At that point, police could not link Gibson to the murder and he was sent back to Delaware in custody and got out of custody sometime in March.Neighbors FOX 29’s Dave Schratwieser spoke with on the 2700 block of North Corskley Street remembered Christine fondly. "She was very nice, stayed to herself, helped the community, always wanted to work on the block," one neighbor said.Murder and related charges have already been approved against Gibson in the shooting death of Philadelphia Dunkin' manager.

Suspect surrenders after hours long standoff at West Philadelphia home, police say

PHILADELPHIA - Authorities gathered outside a home in West Philadelphia on Wednesday night after police said a recently evicted tenant locked himself inside with two young children.Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to a home on the 5500 block of West Girard Avenue just before 8 p.m.According to police, a 36-year-old man who was recently evicted from the property changed all the locks and violated a Protection From Abuse order. The suspect, who has not been named, locked himself inside the home with a 2-year-old and 3-year-old. Police: Gunman opens fire on officer during shootout in Germantown, no injuries reported

PHILADELPHIA - No one was injured after a gunman opened fire on a Philadelphia police officer during a shootout Wednesday afternoon in Germantown.Philadelphia Police Sergeant Eric Gripp told reporters that two plainclothes officers in an unmarked car were patrolling the 4800 block of Keyser Street around 2 p.m. when they came upon a shootout between a 23-year-old and a 20-year-old. The officer in the passenger's seat identified himself as police and ordered both men to drop their weapons when one of the men fired towards the officer, Gripp said. The officer ducked behind cover as the suspect attempted to flee down Keyser Street. According to investigators, the officer that was still inside the vehicle drove after the suspect and fired once through the windshield but missed. Both suspects were uninjured and captured nearby due to a massive police response, Gripp said.Investigators believe something happened between the men before police arrived that involved more than just the two gunmen. Gripp said police are still looking for other suspects, but he did not provide a description. "It just continues to speak to level the gun violence that we're seeing almost every day in this city," Gripp said.
