Gabby Petito case: Wyoming coroner rules cause of death to be strangulation

Teton County coroner Dr. Brent Blue on Tuesday ruled that Gabby Petito died as a result of strangulation.

Blue added the time of death is estimated to be three or four weeks before the remains were found. Petito disappeared during a months-long cross-country road trip with her fiancé Brain Laundrie, who police have called a person of interest in the case.

Anthony Bouchard, R-Cheyenne, in an interview posted online, that police placed her in handcuffs for trespassing after she was suspended for not following the school’s mask mandate and refused to leave school grounds. Smith recorded video of herself getting handcuffed, which her father, Andy Smith, shared on social media.
