ALQUIPPA, Pa. - A Pennsylvania state trooper was recovering from a gunshot wound after the trooper was shot during a struggle with a suspect early Friday, authorities said.Two troopers observed a disturbance on the sidewalk outside the Franklin Mini-Mart, state police said. NEW DELHI: The number of visas issued by Vietnam to Indians has grown 24 times compared to pre-pandemic levels, said Pham Sanh Chau, Vietnam's envoy to India.  The country issued just about 250 visas a day before the coronavirus pandemic and immigration authorities are now issuing 6,000 visas a day to Indians, making it the single largest in-bound market into Vietnam at the moment, he said. UPPER DUBLIN, Pa. - A Pennsylvania school bus aide was charged after investigators said he sexually assaulted a girl and acted inappropriately with other young passengers. Kenneth Cannon, 71, is accused of asking several girls 6-12-years-old to sit on his lap and touching them inappropriately during rides to and from school. Cannon worked as bus aide in the Upper Dublin School District and has since been placed on administrative leave during the investigation. School officials say they were first made aware of the heinous accusations in late May. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESAn affidavit details a 6-year-old girl's encounter with Cannon during which it's alleged that he inappropriately touched her while sitting on his lap aboard the bus. The victim then ran to the back of the bus and claims Cannon told her "do not tell anyone I did this." "The safety of our students is always our top priority," the Upper Dublin School District said in a statement.

PHILADELPHIA - A Philadelphia community gathered to denounce gun violence less than 24-hours after a young girl was caught up in the crossfire of a street shooting. Authorities say a 7-year-old girl was struck in the hand when a shootout erupted on the 200 block of Armstrong Street around 8 p.m. Wednesday. She was rushed to Albert Einstein Medical Center where she was placed in stable condition, police said. "What did she do to deserve that? The three woman sought by police were captured on store surveillance video stuffing nearly $2k in wigs underneath their shirts.  GLOUCESTER TWP, N.J. - Police in Camden County are searching for three women who they say stole nearly $2k in wigs from a local beauty shop. The Gloucester Township Police Department shared a surveillance video of the three women inside Coco Beauty Supply on Berlin-Cross Keys Road on July 20. According to police, the suspects went to the back of the store and tried on wigs for several minutes. The women then stuffed nearly $2k worth of wigs underneath their shirts and left without paying, police said. Investigators are asking anyone with information on the suspects to contact the Gloucester Township Police Department.

PHILADELPHIA - Police are investigating a fatal shooting that they say happened Wednesday night in South Philadelphia. At around 6:54 p.m., police say they responded to the 1800 block of Sigel Street for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, authorities say they found a 26-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the neck. Police transported the victim to Presbyterian Hospital where they say he was pronounced dead at 7:20 p.m. No arrest was made in this incident and no weapon was recovered.

HOUSTON - New details are emerging regarding an accused predator that allegedly took an 11-year-old girl from her Missouri City home.27-year-old Jose Paniagua is now charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14. RELATED: Six men charged with solicitation of minors in Houston-areaAccording to court records, he bound the 11-year-old's hands and forced himself on her several times after first meeting the little girl online earlier this month. "So for the parents watching out there, if your kid is 13-years-old or younger, no social media whatsoever," says Tech Expert Juan Guevara Torres. That’s the recommendation from tech professionals like Torres, because it was in the chatting app Discord where the 11-year-old victim is said to have met accused sexual predator, 27-year-old Jose Paniagua, who is actually on probation in a different county for online solicitation of a minor. MORE CRIME AND PUBLIC SAFETYAccording to court records, the 11-year-old first thought she was talking and meeting up with a 13-year-old boy. Those court documents say on July 9 at Paniagua’s Houston apartment the 11-year-old was forced to have intercourse multiple times and her hands were bound with a leather belt. A sexual assault nurse quoted in court documents say markings were left on the child's wrists. Also, according to those legal records, Paniagua told police he picked up the 11-year-old and took her to his apartment several times beginning July 3, after meeting the 11-year-old online and Paniagua told investigators he first thought the little girl was a 22-year-old woman."When you’re 13 and below, you are very trusting, and you’re developing a lot of the street smarts.
