A Covid intensive care unit with patients so weak they "can't even move their fingers" has opened its doors to the horror of the frontline against the disease.
Patients regain consciousness so weak they cannot even sit up unsupported. And a physiotherapist has not been able to taste or smell anything since she caught the virus last April.
Normally only staff are allowed behind these doors to encounter the scale pf the pandemic. Covid-19 can be so lethal that visits are significantly restricted, allowed only in specific circumstances.
But, to show the public the reality of the disease - and reveal the commitment and courage of staff, the Manchester Evening News lays bare the reality of the Covid frontlines.
