The call has come from one of the UK's top public health experts Dr Jenny Harries, who is chief executive of the UK Health Security Agency.
She visited the town last week to find out how the community responded to the recent spike in cases of the Delta variant, first identified in India.
Dr Harries heard how community engagement, door-to-door visiting, increased vaccination, enhanced testing, contact tracing and supporting self-isolation were all vital elements of the joint response.
