There were almost 2,000 deaths linked to Covid-19 in the first year of the pandemic. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) today released data for every single death of a care home resident in England.
The independent health regulator said the virus has had a 'devastating' impact on the adult social care sector and that it has a duty to be 'transparent' and act 'in the public interest' by sharing the data.
In total, there were more than 39,000 care home resident deaths linked to Covid-19 in England between April 2020 and March 2021.
