Scots are being urged to work from home wherever possible once again amid fears over the Omicron Covid variant. A report released yesterday by Public Health Scotland had shown that there has been at least 389 confirmed or possible cases of the variant, which has caused a great deal of concern among the global scientific community.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) have said that the variant contains a ‘large number’ of mutations.Early studies have shown that the strain is more transmissible than Delta, while investigations into the effectiveness of the vaccines against Omicron continue.Nicola Sturgeon told MSPs earlier this week that the number of confirmed cases of Omicron in Scotland has increased by tenfold in the space of a week.
