The number of Covid infections remains high in Scotland - despite a drop in cases over the past couple of weeks. On January 3, Scotland recorded its highest ever numbers of daily Covid infections, with more than 20,000 positive cases identified over a 24 hour period.Numbers have declined somewhat since then, with today’s daily figure coming in at 8,262.

More restrictions will be lifted next week amid ‘encouragement’ from the Scottish Government on the recent Covid data. The coronavirus pandemic is just two months away from entering into its third year - which means that the number of people becoming reinfected with the virus is growing. Here is what we know about Covid reinfection so far.

As the Covid-19 virus is still relatively new to scientists and global health leaders, the definitive answer on reinfection remains a mystery.

But there have been some studies that could point us in the right direction towards this.In January 2021, Public Health England (PHE) found that immunity following a Covid infection could last for at least five months after becoming ill.The ZOE Covid Study App conducted similar research a few months later, which found that antibodies existed around nine months after infection. In a study of 8.193 contributors to the app, four out of five people infected with the virus built up protective antibodies to fight off the virus.

The card by Tom included the words, “To Dad, Tom.”“Dear Dad well done for stopping smoking. Love Tom”The youngster had also drawn a cigarette which was crossed out with two lines in the middle.Johnny has tried to quit his habit of smoking for well over four years but the father-of-two has constantly found himself reverting to his old ways.Back in 2019, the Benidorm star credited Madonna for helping him quit puffing on dozens of cigarettes a day, insisting that whenever he felt the urge to have a smoke, he’d begin dancing to the singer’s song Lucky Star.In an interview with Daily Star in November that year, Johnny claimed that just 10 seconds of breaking into a boogie to the pop song helped subside his urge for a cigarette."Every time I seriously consider having a cigarette I make myself dance for at least 10 seconds to her Lucky Star hit."It's not a good look for me and does actually help bolster the social embarrassment bit of my brain while it fights its corner against addiction.”Meanwhile, his tweet mentioning being rid of cigarettes for over three weeks was met with a positive reaction from fans who reacted in the comment section of the post. Some people went on to share their own experiences on trying to tackle their former and current habits with tobacco.“Having kids who told you off for smoking in the house worked a treat,” the Twitter user @Bubblesaroo quipped.Another user named @BoppyWalsh17 asserted that reading books helped them overcome their addiction to cigarettes.“When I stopped I really started struggling 3 or 4 weeks in, I read the Allan Carr Easy Way book at that point and it was the turning point,” they said.“The book that changed my life, worth a punt if you are unsteady at any point.

When and where you can stop wearing face masks - as England Covid rules end tomorrow
coronavirus.Covid-19 began spreading rapidly once the new Omicron variant emerged. In early January, cases soared past the 200,000 mark despite Plan B restrictions that were put in place in England.Thankfully, although they are still high, the number of confirmed cases are much lower than they were at the beginning of the year. They are now down to 88,447 as of January 25, up from the previous day's figure of 78,317.Boris Johnson and his Cabinet are hoping this means the variant has now peaked, while some experts feel the changes still present a risk.As a result, restrictions that have affected when we wear a face mask and the way we act in shops, nightclubs and other public places are being lifted. So what are the changes? As the clock ticks down on Plan B restrictions, people can legally stop wearing them in public indoor spaces from Thursday January 27; Plan B expires the day before. The Prime Minister has already announced they no longer had to be worn inside the classroom by secondary school pupils and staff, but now people do not have to wear them in indoor public places if they so choose.People can still wear masks if they want to.Johnson said they now hope to be able to allow Plan B measures to expire and move to 'Plan A' Covid rules. The PM said: "The Cabinet concluded that because of the extraordinary booster campaign together with the way the public have responded to the Plan B measures - we can return to Plan A in England and allow Plan B regulations to expire."This means the end of NHS Covid passes needed for large venues and work-from-home guidance has already been scrapped.Venues can choose to enforce the use of Covid passes on entry to their venue if they wish to do so.People will be able to visit care homes
