Greenland ice melting event could cover Florida in 2 inches of water
GREENLAND - Greenland experienced a massive ice melting event Tuesday, once more illustrating the influence of rising temperatures on our planet. According to Polar Portal, a Danish Arctic research institution studying the Greenland ice sheet and sea ice, the ice melt on Tuesday alone "would be enough to cover Florida in two inches of water." While this amount is not as extreme as an event that occurred in 2019, the melting area is larger this time around.Another study in Communications Earth & Environment showed that Greenland lost a record amount of ice in 2019 when record-breaking heat was being felt around the world.

Olympic first: Men, women to swim together in the same relay race
TOKYO - Swimming is nothing if not orderly.Get ready for a little chaos. Here comes the 4x100-meter mixed medley relay making its Olympic debut in Tokyo on Saturday: Two men and two women per country doing backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle. The teams get to decide who swims each stroke, so a woman from one team and a man from the other could be doing the butterfly, say, at the same time."I was probably a bit skeptical when it first came on the program, but I’m so thrilled that it’s now an Olympic event," Australian sprinter Cate Campbell said.
