Though Valenzuela, full name is Mauro Ociel Valenzuela-Reyes, may not be as familiar to many people, his actions while working as an aviation mechanic in 1996 are directly linked to a plane crash that killed more than 100 people and would have a profound effect on the future of commercial passenger aviation safety in the U.S.
